When there's a death in the family, the flowers are rarely the thing you want to be thinking about — and yet they need sorting quickly. Irish funerals move fast. Most families are working to a two- or three-day window between the death and the burial, with the removal or reposing one evening and the Mass and burial the following morning. That timeline is the whole reason funeral flowers in Dublin are different from any other flower order you'll ever place.
Arbour Blooms is a family florist based in the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords. Every funeral tribute we send is made by hand in the shop, by our own team, and delivered across Dublin by us — not passed to a florist you've never heard of. If you're arranging flowers for a funeral anywhere in the city or county, you can call us on 01 849 4324 and speak to a person who will tell you honestly what we can do in the time available.
Same-day funeral flower delivery in Dublin
We deliver across Dublin Monday to Saturday, and we can usually manage same-day delivery on orders placed before 12:30pm. That cut-off is real rather than aspirational — it's the point at which the arrangement still has time to be made properly and reach the funeral home before the evening.
We don't normally guarantee a specific delivery time for ordinary flower orders. Funerals are the one exception we make, because a tribute that arrives after the removal has already missed the moment it was meant for. If you tell us when the service is, we work backwards from it.
If the timing is genuinely tight — a removal this evening, a Mass first thing tomorrow — phone rather than ordering online. We can tell you in thirty seconds whether it's possible, which is better than you finding out at checkout that it isn't.
Where should the flowers be sent?
This is the question we're asked most often, and there's no single right answer — it depends on the family's arrangements.
To the funeral home is the most common choice, and usually the safest. Tributes are set out for the reposing and removal, and travel with the coffin to the church. Aim to have flowers there a few hours before the reposing begins.
To the church works when there's no reposing, or when the family has asked for flowers at the Mass only. Churches often have a narrow window when someone is there to receive them, so it's worth checking with the sacristan or the undertaker first.
To the graveside suits wreaths and family tributes when there's a burial immediately after the Mass.
To the family home is for sympathy flowers rather than funeral tributes — a bouquet or vase arrangement sent in the days and weeks afterwards. Those are a different thing, and we keep them in a separate sympathy flowers range.
If you're not sure, the undertaker will know — and so will we. Ring us and we'll talk it through.
Choosing a tribute
Four shapes cover almost every funeral order we take, and which one you choose usually comes down to how close you were to the person who died.
- Funeral posies — small, circular and hand-tied, from €59. The usual choice for friends, colleagues and extended family.
- Teardrop sprays — taller and one-sided, made to stand near the coffin, from €59.
- Funeral wreaths — circular, traditionally from close family, and the usual choice for a graveside tribute, from €65.
- Casket sprays — the largest tribute, sitting directly on the coffin, almost always from the immediate family.
Our full range is in the funeral flowers collection, where you'll also find guidance on cost and a fuller explanation of the differences.
What do I write on the card?
People agonise over this far more than they need to. Short is fine. "With deepest sympathy", "Thinking of you all", "A dear friend, sadly missed" — these are used constantly and nobody has ever thought less of a card for being brief. Sign it the way the family would recognise you: "The Murphys, next door" tells them more than a surname alone. If you'd rather talk it through, ring us and we'll write it out for you.
Beyond the city
We deliver across Dublin city and county, and to the north County Dublin towns we know best — see our local pages for Skerries, Swords, Malahide, Balbriggan and Portmarnock. For a funeral elsewhere in Ireland we deliver nationwide Tuesday to Saturday with a 4pm cut-off the day before, or arrange it through the Interflora network.
We're rated 4.5 out of 5 by our customers on Google. Every funeral order is handled with the same care and discretion, whether it's for a neighbour or for your own mother.
Choose from a truly wonderful selection of floral bouquets, wreaths, posies and more.
