What are the red Christmas flowers called?
The festive red flowers are called poinsettias, which are native to Mexico. Their vibrant shade of red lends them perfectly to the festive season, as does the fact they bloom in Mexico in December.
How to take care of Christmas flowers
We recommend caring for a big bouquet of Christmas table flowers as you would almost any other freshly-cut blooms. Upon receipt, unwrap your beautiful bundle and trim the stems. Fill your vase with clean water and add the sachet of nutrition supplement that we provide. Place the stems into the vase and arrange as desired. Ideally, keep away from direct heat (such as a roaring open fire) and sunlight. They will do best in room temperature so if the dining room is roasting, keep them somewhere else until just prior to everyone sitting down. Spritz with fresh water occasionally and every other day trim the stems and change the water over.
How to do a Christmas flower arrangement
Whether you want to organise Christmas table decorations, make the mantle piece festive or deck the hallway with boughs of holly (or something a little more manageable!), you’re sure to make the place look fabulous. As is our advice with all floral arranging – don’t feel like you need to follow rules. Do what you love with the flowers that make you happy. Obviously, eucalyptus is a real go-to foliage for the season. Order it on its own or with other blooms (remember – we do Christmas flowers delivery!). When it arrives, simply deconstruct the bouquet and scatter the lovely mini branches along the surface area. Add scented candles and perhaps some seasonal ribbon and you can’t go wrong! The extra wonderful thing about eucalyptus is that it dries beautifully (and smells divine).
